Volunteers needed to help replace aging community greenhouse boxes

In Whistler, there are four neighborhood greenhouses that house nearly 80 gardening boxes. Each garden box gives community members the opportunity to grow organic food and friendships at locations close to home. The first greenhouses were installed in 2004 and after over a decade of service – as a home to beets, salad greens, herbs, Jim Cook’s famous tomatoes and more – many of the boxes are falling into disrepair.

Initial efforts to replace and repair boxes are being focused on Spruce Grove where there are two greenhouses and over half of the boxes need to be replaced. Volunteers came out in the sun and rain for four days over Easter and we will be out volunteering again on the 22nd and 23rd of April.

Many hands make light work and so please come help out if you can. We will be back at Spruce Grove Greenhouses 9am-5pm on Saturday 22n and Sunday 23rd of April.
