AWARE Kids Nature Club

AWARE Kid’s Nature Club is held on the last Sunday of each month

10am – 11:30am at the Whistler Public Library

These free sessions educate local and visiting youth about all things environmental through fun and interactive activities. Open to all, but mainly intended for kids aged 5 to 11 years old. (All kids must be accompanied by a parent).

AWARE Kids Nature Club has been encouraging youth to learn about the environment since 2007. Past topics have included building solar powered cars, painting birdhouses and learning about local bird song, turning rubbish into art, being bear smart and understanding creepy crawlies.

Upcoming Kids Club Topics

  • January 29: Winter Wildlife Survival
    Investigate fresh and frozen signs of winter life and wildlife needs.

  • February 26: International Polar Bear Day
    Activities and games to find out everyday things we do can help local bears and polar bears survive and thrive.

  • March 26: Get the Goods on Goods
    Get curious about life cycles of the things you need and get creative about what you can make from stuff around the house and your own back yard. 

  • April 30: Happy Earth Day
    Celebrate all the earth’s precious resources and services by getting dirty,and learning about composting and all the goodness that the earth is made of. 

  • May 28: GO Green 
    Activities and games to celebrate getting around the environmentally friendly way. Bike, bus, scooter, walk or run… share what you see along the way and discover how it helps make for a healthy planet. 

  • June 25: Signs of Summer
    Learn about the longest day of the year, how sunshine affects wild things and check out what flowers are in bloom.

The AWARE Kid’s Nature Club is possible due to the support of the Whistler Public Library, who kindly donates their community space; the fantastic volunteers who plan and run the workshops; and Regional Recycling Whistler, who will help create fundraising and advertising activities for the Nature Club through donations at the Nesters Bottle Depot.
