About AWARE
About Us
AWARE (The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment) is a volunteer-driven, registered, charitable non-profit organization. AWARE was formed in 1989 with a mandate to push for a recycling program within the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW).
We are active on environmental and sustainability issues in our valley, and work to protect the fast vanishing wilderness in our backyard. The organization consists of an elected Board of Directors, and an executive board consisting of a President, two Vice-Presidents, and a Treasurer.
AWARE sees a sensible balanced approach to environmental sustainability as the only option for our future, from both an environmental and economic point of view.
AWARE’s Mission Statement
1. AWARE strives to improve the quality of life in Whistler and surrounding areas.
2. Protect and restore the natural heritage and maintain our resources and ecosystems.
