About Waste Reduction Week: Waste Reduction Week in Canada is a national environmental campaign that builds awareness around issues of sustainable and responsible consumption, encourages choice for more environmentally responsible products/services, and promotes actions that divert more waste from disposal and conserve natural resources.
OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:
Join us on Thursday, October 20th for the Waste Reduction Week 2016 – Film Screening: Just Eat It at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler
6:30-7:00 PM – Arrive early to collect free giveaways (while supplies last) and connect with local waste heroes.
7:00-8:30 PM – Film Screening: Just Eat It
8:30-9:00 PM – Q&A with filmmaker Jen Rustemeyer as well as local waste experts from event partners the RMOW, SLRD & AWARE.
‘Just Eat It’ follows filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant as they dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge. After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away.
Come early to check out information displays and collect some free tools to help you reduce waste in your home or business – while stocks last there will be compost totes, ‘What’s In What’s Out’ posters, bin labels and more.
This Waste Reduction Week event is being organized by AWARE Whistler in partnership with the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and the SLRD – Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.
