Whistler Nature Camp | Pro-D Days

Pro-D Day Nature Kids @ Home Activity Books

With Covid putting our in-person youth nature programming on hold we have switched it up to help families stay connected with nature! Now is a great time to awaken your senses and spark curiosity – right in your own natural backyard!

Every PD Day through the 2020-21 school year we will be releasing a new workbook of nature-inspired activities ready for some creative nature activities and adventure.

We will add a new workbook ahead of each Pro-D Day – so be sure to check back!

(SD 48 Pro-D Days are: October 23, November 20, January 29, March 1, May 7 and June 30).

In a usual year our PD Programming would include…

Pro-D Day Camp for ages 5-9

Part of AWARE’s Whistler Nature Camp series

The Whistler Nature Camp series strives to provide opportunities that will nurture children’s innate curiosity about the natural world, foster their understanding of the interconnectedness of all living and non-living things, and instill in them a sense of care and responsibility for the well-being of their communities and our shared planet.

Whistler Nature Camp focuses on ages 5–9 years old, with programs for older kids to come in the following years.  As a day camp, the program is offered when school is closed following the School District No. 48 (Sea to Sky) calendar and is available through the summer holidays, spring break and teacher professional development days. Sign up can be for one day or an entire break period.

What to expect at Pro-D Day Camp

AWARE is proud to facilitate Nature Camp programming on teacher professional development days during the school season (School District No. 48 – Sea to Sky).

Pro-D Day Camps are for the junior scientist looking to dig deeper into the natural world around them. Experience a fun-filled day packed with outdoor adventure, activities and experiments to leave participants with excitement and curiosity to learn more.

Pro-D Day Nature Camp focuses on ages 5–9 years old and strives to teach participants about Whistler’s unique flora and fauna, and foster an understanding of the interconnectedness of all living and non-living things.

Pro-D Day Nature Camp is located at Spring Creek Community School. Campers will spend the majority of the day outside in the forests, field and naturalized play areas surrounding the school grounds regardless of weather (so please dress appropriately).
